DC TAPE

When implementing the lighting concept, that surface mounted wiring is used so all laid cables are visible. In terms of deconstructability, separation of building materials by type and ease of repair, electrical installation with surface-mounted wiring offers many advantages. In order to allow easy and flexible installation of lights even for laymen, the DCTAPE system was developed for the project.

This new type of surface-mounted installation consists of a thin zinc conductor strip that can be glued to ceilings and walls. Lights (and in future also USB sockets) then can be flexibly plugged into the DCTAPE by the user. Thus, the lighting can be adjusted individually to his needs.

In the bathroom the ceiling light can be used to create a “light shower” that vitalizes the body in the morning hours and supports the release of melatonin in the evening by changing the colour temperature and illuminance, thus helping the user to fall asleep (Human Centric Lighting).

Direct current use

The electricity generated by the OPV façade can be temporarily stored in the battery without any conversion losses on the DC side, or it can be used directly at the Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELF) level to operate the building automation system and the LED lighting. For the lighting, the specially developed DCTAPE surface-mounted installation system is used, which has an integrated DALI bus in addition to a 48V supply. (In the HDU, direct use of DC-power is not possible due to rules of the competition).
