After almost three years of preparation, the time has finally come: The long-awaited hot phase of the international university competition SDE 21/22 begins with the construction of the prototype in Wuppertal. The coLLab team from HFT Stuttgart is making its contribution with an urban, ecological redensification and is thus entering the solar decathlon with 17 other student teams.

We planned, lasered and glued like crazy over a period of two months. The task was to complete the model for the Design Challenge, the first step in the submission process of the Solar Decathlon competition, on time. The deadline for the submission was Friday, 28 May 2021.

Architects and civil engineers usually have to wait a long time before they are allowed to implement their ideas and create something concrete - at least until their first job after graduation beckons. For a group of students at the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences (HFT), the dream is coming true sooner. As part of the international Solar Decathlon Europe competition, they are planning and constructing a building that should be as sustainable, energy-efficient and socially acceptable as possible.
