Interior Design - SuSe 20
In more than 10 subjects, this semester the HFT Stuttgart starts to work on topics of the Solar Decathlon Europe 2021, including design, structural engineering, interior design, urban mobility, building services engineering and many more. The good cooperation of these different disciplines is inevitable in order to create a well thought-out, comprehensive project. Let us coLLab!
In the subject Interior Design, students of the Bachelor of Interior Architecture work on a clever zoning and planning of the interior design of the room modules. The basis for this is the architects' design produced in the last semester. First of all, the subject creates design concepts from floor plans and concept sketches, and then constructively checks them in floor plans, sections and details. In realistic 3D renderings, materials as well as proportions of spatial elements are analysed, compared and evaluated. Teams of 5 people have been formed for the processing, who are currently working on different concepts. The work of 3 teams is presented in the following.
The first team has set itself the task of considering ecological, socio-cultural, but also economic aspects in the design in order to create an interior design that is as sustainable as possible and at the same time can be used efficiently. The modular idea is the core of the concept. Most of the furniture modules can be installed in a one- or two-storey architectural variant. They are therefore adaptable to different conditions. Different functional areas are juxtaposed in order to guarantee a use that is adapted to the needs of the occupant. By means of an individually designable shelf suspension system, the resident is given the opportunity to personalise the room. Materials are deliberately chosen according to ecologically sustainable standards. By bringing these different aspects together, a functional, intuitively usable and at the same time visually high-quality living space is created.
The second team is also working on a new and intelligent room concept with the aim of achieving the best possible result for the joint project through the discipline of interior design. For this purpose, constant communication is maintained with the students of the other disciplines in order to continuously integrate their developments into their own work process. An interior concept with not only a high design value but also optimal functionality in terms of use is designed. The aspect of sustainability plays an important role here. The following questions play a leading role: Which systems work best in a minimal space? How can they be combined in a coherent overall concept that works in both one- and two-storey modules? In combination with the outer shell of the architecture, their needs are optimally adapted to the users and become the creative expression of the interior.
Team three asks itself the question, which needs and functions must be fulfilled, so that a person likes to stay and live in a room. Many functions should be accommodated in as small a space as possible in order to create space. To achieve this, fixtures should be used multifunctionally or functions should be combined. Materials are selected according to the aspects of sustainability and influence on the room atmosphere. The themes of colour, light and material are taken into account and manufacturers who demonstrably place value on sustainability are researched. The aim is to create an interior that incorporates both functionality and sustainability aspects.
